Managing Inspections
Create, track, and manage inspections in QuickInspect and YachtInspect.
Creating an Inspection
- Navigate to the Findings tab in the bottom navigation
- Tap the + button to create a new finding or inspection
- Select an inspection template:
- System templates -- pre-built templates provided by the app
- Company templates -- shared templates created by your organization
- Fill in the inspection details and link it to a product or project
Tip
Inspections can be linked to products and projects, allowing you to track all related findings and inspection history in one place.
Inspection Statuses
Every inspection moves through three statuses:
- Open -- newly created, not yet started
- InProgress -- actively being conducted
- Closed -- inspection completed
To change the status, open the inspection and update it from the status control.
Using Inspection Templates
Templates define the structure and content of your inspections. When creating a new inspection, use the Template Picker to browse available templates. You can filter templates by report type to find the right one quickly.
There are two categories of templates:
- System templates -- provided by default and available to all users
- Company templates -- created by your organization's Key Users or Admins
Attaching Files
You can attach files to inspections for additional documentation. This is useful for supporting documents, reference materials, or external records that complement your inspection data.
Linking Findings to Inspections
Findings can be linked to inspections to build a complete picture of issues discovered during the inspection process. Each finding tracks:
- Description and photos
- Status (Open, To be reviewed, Closed, Accepted as is, Cancelled, Shipyard confirmed rectification)
- Priority and due date
- Corrective measures
- GPS location and NFC tags
- Multi-level location (up to 5 levels)
- System category
- Comments
Note
Findings have 6 possible statuses, giving you granular control over the lifecycle of each issue from discovery through resolution.
Signing Off Inspections
Inspections support signature capture for sign-off. The report designer includes a signatureBlock element type that can be added to your report templates, allowing inspectors and reviewers to sign directly within the app.
Offline Support
Inspections work offline thanks to local SQLite storage. Create and edit inspections without an internet connection. Your data will sync automatically when connectivity is restored.
Warning
AI features (such as AI-assisted analysis and the Chat Panel) require an active internet connection and are not available offline.
Tips
- Link inspections to specific products and projects for better organization
- Use templates to maintain consistency across your team
- Sync your data before and after fieldwork to keep all devices up to date
- Use the multi-level location system (5 levels) to precisely describe where findings occur
