Templates
Templates in QuickInspect and YachtInspect come in two types: Report Templates that define full report layouts, and HTML Templates that provide reusable HTML content blocks.
Note
Screenshots show QuickInspect. YachtInspect has the same template system.
Report Templates
A Report Template stores a complete report layout as an editorState JSON snapshot. When you create a new report from a template, it loads the saved element arrangement, styling, and configuration.
Template Properties
Each Report Template includes:
- Name: display name shown in the template picker
- Description: brief explanation of what the template covers
- Report type: one of
photo, progress, inspection, orfinal - Layout config: the full editor state including all element positions and settings
- Styling: colors, fonts, margins, and other visual settings
- isDefault: whether this is the default template for its report type
- isShared: whether the template is shared with other company members
- AI generation prompt history: record of AI prompts used to generate or refine the template
System Templates vs. Company Templates
There are two scopes for Report Templates:
System templates are global templates available to all users. These are curated starter templates for common report types. System templates appear first in the template picker and cannot be edited by users.
Company-specific templates are created by your organization and are only visible to members of your company. Any user can create a company template, and templates with the isShared flag are visible to all company members.
Tip
Start with a system template and customize it for your company's needs, then save as a company template for your team.
HTML Templates
HTML Templates are standalone reusable HTML content blocks. Each HTML Template has:
- Title: display name
- HTML content: the raw HTML that renders inside an
htmlTemplateelement in the Report Designer
HTML Templates are company-specific -- each company maintains its own library of HTML Templates.
Use HTML Templates for recurring content blocks like disclaimers, legal notices, company descriptions, or standardized section headers that you want to embed across multiple reports.
Template Picker
When creating a new report, the Template Picker helps you find the right template:
- Filter by report type: narrow results to photo, progress, inspection, or final templates
- Search query: text search across template names and descriptions
- Sort order: system templates are shown first, followed by company templates sorted by date modified (newest first)
What's Next?
