Findings Timeline
The Findings Timeline is a custom-built Gantt chart view that displays findings as horizontal bars on a calendar grid. It is available as a tab inside the Findings view and gives teams an instant visual overview of work scope, scheduling, and overdue items.
Tip
Set a Start Date and Due Date on every finding when you create it to get the best visibility on the timeline. Findings without both dates set do not appear as bars on the chart.
Accessing the Timeline
Open the Findings tab (second tab in the bottom navigation bar), then tap the Timeline tab at the top of the screen. The chart loads all findings for the current project that have both a Start Date and a Due Date.
Bar Layout
Each bar represents one finding and shows two lines of information:
- Top line: Finding title + up to three overlapping user profile avatar images (assigned users)
- Bottom line: Status badge + due date label
The width of the bar spans from the Start Date to the Due Date, drawn to scale on the monthly grid.
Color Coding by Status
Bars are colored according to the current finding status:
| Color | Status |
|---|---|
| Red | Overdue (due date passed, not closed) |
| Green | Closed |
| Blue | In Progress |
| Orange | Open |
| Teal | Verifyable (QuickInspect only) |
Overdue findings receive an additional red tint background and a warning icon to make them immediately visible.
Swim Lane Grouping
Findings are organized into rows (swim lanes) by a grouping field:
- YachtInspect: grouped by the System Category field
- QuickInspect: grouped by Status
Each group row has a collapsible header that shows the group name and the count of findings in that group. Tap the header to collapse or expand the group.
Summary Stats Bar
A fixed stats bar at the top of the chart shows aggregate counts for the current project:
- Open -- findings with Open status
- In Progress -- findings currently being worked on
- Overdue -- findings past their due date and not yet closed
- Closed -- resolved findings
Navigation Controls
| Control | Action |
|---|---|
| Today button | Scrolls the chart horizontally to center on today's date |
| Tap a bar | Navigates directly to the finding detail screen |
| Horizontal drag | Scrolls the timeline forward and backward in time |
Grid and Markers
The chart renders:
- Month labels across the top header row
- Weekly vertical grid lines to help estimate dates at a glance
- Red vertical "today" line marking the current date
Empty State
If no findings in the current project have both a Start Date and a Due Date, the timeline displays an empty state message prompting you to add dates to your findings.
